Show Me the Money In Afghanistan!

The Chicken Hawks probably almost had heart attacks back in December 2019 when The Afghanistan Papers were released. Here, we will talk about how one of the interviews addressed how Task Force 2010 dealt with money in Afghanistan.

One of the interviews featured forensic accountant Thomas Creal.

According to the American Bar Association, a forensic accounts are:

…specialists at unraveling financial and compliance puzzles for businessses, nonprofits, governmental entities, and individuals, using precise processes and a systematic investigation of data.

Before we move on, take a look at this Top 100 CNN Stories of 2019. In that, you won’t see one link about the Afghanistan Papers. Isn’t that super interesting?

War without Money?

To commit to the warmongering Chicken Hawks love, they need money. They don’t care how the money appears – they just want their wars they don’t have to fight and die in.

This is what General Petreas saw in Afghanistan. As Thomas Creal states in his interview:

The greater impact was civil forfeiture taking the money away. Attack the money of aiders and abettors, not just beneficiaries, a long the lines of the chain. Petraeus’ “money as a weapons system” was right; it’s also a weapon if you take it away.

Patraeus is absolutely right. Take the money away and it makes it very difficult for there to be war.

Is it fair that someone who doesn’t support a war be forced to contribute to the war monetarily? The Chicken Hawks seem to think so!

The Income Tax’s Affect on Warmongering

That is where The Hawk Bawk sees a lot of the problem in American warmongering. The American government accrues much of its money through taxes. The hardest blow to a freedom-loving individual is the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution.

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

So, if you earn money, you have to contribute to the federal government. This money can be used for whatever the federal government sees fit.

According to The Balance, about 14.5% of the 2019 budget was geared for the Military. If you have to give the federal government $5,000, that means about $725 of your money is spent on propping up the government’s war machine.

If you are a Chicken Hawk and are completely OK and don’t question what the government does at all, good for you! But what about those people who don’t believe in all the death? What about those who have done research or who have spent time in war and don’t believe any of it is justified? Why do they have to support the Chicken Hawks without a choice?

Forced to Work Together with Money In Afghanistan

It’s strange that when something is not broken, the government will find a way to break it. The following passage from the Thomas Creal interview explains how he saw something get fixed that didn’t need fixing:

When I left, it was much more fragmented. I thought that was a shame. Gen. Ridge left and Gen. Lougo came in. It [the office] became more silo-driven; people were not working together. We went from North KAlA to Webley Hall, where everyone had their individual offices, more conducive to hiding all day. Unlike in the early days when we were in 2 huge conference rooms-we were forced to work together.

Government has very little incentive to be productive and efficient. All they have to do is convince their citizens that they are doing fine and/or will do better. The only way they fail is if people choose to not let them have their money.

So, something like Thomas Creal witnessed isn’t surprising. As long as someone can get away with more by doing less, it will happen. Unfortunately, with government, oversight is often set aside. Just look at how The Federal Reserve operates.

However, right before a big block is blacked out in the Thomas Creal interview, there is an interesting sentence. It goes as follows:

“Ridge and I found that 25% of the money went to the wrong hands.”

That sure seems interesting and needing of all those black bars removed, doesn’t it? The money in Afghanistan sure is shady on both sides!
