If you think RAW wastes air time and you hate Drew Gulak Powerpoint presentations, then this is the video for you!
Welcome to The Raw Loaf and when I was doing my weekly recap of RAW on Monday, I couldn’t help but think of all of the times when we were being reminded of events.
So, I wanted to put this powerpoint presentation together to actually count up how much time was spent telling us things we already know when we could’ve been seeing everyone’s entrances or watching Tyler Breeze Giving that prriiiiiicck Drew Gulak the Beauty Shot!
Instant replays, announcers or wrestlers talking live about the past, and talking about future stuff won’t be counted if RAW wastes air time.
RAW Wastes Air Time – Let’s get started!
1. The show opens up with Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, and Dolph in the ring, and Braun shows us some old footage – 2 minutes, 16 seconds
2. After commercial break, they talk about the big brawl that just happened – 1 minute, 9 seconds.
3. The announce team talks about the Shiled getting pummeled again with the same video package, plus the shield getting arrested – 1 minute, 56 seconds
4. The Last Time Undertaker vs HHH at the Super Show-Down videos they already showed last week. We saw all these videos last week, but they were just all mixed this week – 1 minute – 50 seconds
5. Announce team talks about HBK, and they show clips of HBK/Taker talking about the Last Time – 1 minute, 45 seconds
Total Time – 8 Minutes, 56 seconds
Was It Worth It?
That’s almost 9 minutes of talking about things that already happened! Say there are 16 minutes of commercials per hour on RAW. That means there are 48 minutes of commercials, which leaves just 2 hours and 12 minutes of RAW. Take away 9 minutes of that and you are just about at 2 hours of RAW!
Now, I don’t know many people who turn off RAW because of something they think is stupid. I know some people will tune away for certain wrestlers. However, this is pro wrestling. Generally speaking, we’re watching for the long haul.
Does this means the repetitive promotion of the Super Show-Down in Melbourne is pointless? The show could fit in much more actual show without having to tell me for the 70,000th time that there is a show in Australia on October 6th!
Also, they did a couple spots on Connor’s Cure. Great cause, to be sure, but I think it’s much more effectively promoted with the wrestlers (like Sasha Banks and Bayley wearing gear that will be auctioned off). Plus they have the logo on half the shirts and all over the arena anyways.
Do you think RAW wastes air time? Do we need to be reminded so much of things we already know? Does the WWE promote its stuff too much during RAW and Smackdown? Was my PowerPoint presentation better than that PRRRRRRRRRICK Drew Gulak? Let me know in the comments or tweet me @TheRawLoaf! Or check out my page on The Raw Loaf!
