Last Christmas Review

In my Last Christmas Review, I talk about how sometimes, I’m dumb sometimes! Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Wasn’t too much or too little of the good and the bad, and sometimes, Christmas movies can be extra cheesy, but I enjoyed this one. Only think I didn’t mention in the video is how I think they tried too hard to make Kate (Emilia Clarke) to be TOO unlikable!

Last Christmas Review Transcript for Movies Are Dumb Sometimes

Have you ever gone into a movie and thought to yourself within the first  seconds ”What did I get myself into?” Well, with Last Christmas, I had that thought. Thankfully it didn’t last.

If there is one thing I picked up in film school, it’s that your opening shot and your closing shot can really mean something to your film. It doesn’t just have to be just the start of the film. It can actually mean something and add deeper meaning to your movie.  In the opening shot of Last Christmas, it’s a shot of a ross and an old cathedral and I immediately thought to myself, “Oh no…is this gonna be a religious movie?” I don’t have anything against religious movies. I’ve seen a few that I’ve enjoyed, like Breakthrough, but the thing was I knew what I was getting into with Breakthrough

But thankfully this did not turn into some like crazy religious movie. It was just a good fun movie.

Overall, one thing I do not appreciate in the Hollywood level films or even step below Hollywood is when they put a voiceover when obviously the mouth is

not moving. It doesn’t doesn’t connect with me. It makes me feel like  something wasn’t planned and it happens near the beginning of the movie.

She got very upset. She threw the S bomb there. The words do not match the mouth and I just wish movies would stop doing that and you would think with all the pre-production…I’m sure in all of these like big scale films with big stars there is a lot of pre-production done. All the paperwork is done so if they need to reshoot something and, I don’t know, maybe I’m just a fool, but really they just needed a director or the assistant director there, a camera guy and the actress they could’ve reshot the scene within five minutes and made it work, but they didn’t in short!

Our main character wants to be a singer but she’s stuck working in this Christmas shop which she used to enjoy. But life goes on, you know, we

get over things. She has this audition to go be a singer for something

and she’s super pumped up about it right. She gets a little sidetracked and she’s completely late for her audition. She made such a big deal about this audition for her just to miss. It really didn’t make much sense to me.

I think the biggest connection that this movie will have with most people is the fact that the family in the movie is kinda broken and all of our families all around the world are kind of broken. We don’t get along with everybody all the time and this movie really highlights that. I think it does a really

well job at it too.

Really well?

Really good!

If there is one thing I would change in this film it’s the montage of when  .

she becomes a like helpful person and she’s gonna help the homeless people. They do a really quick montage of her singing and getting some money and doing nice things. Although I felt the montage was not very effective.

She sang a couple times and she gave a couple of dollars the first time and then it was like 20 dollars the second time or whatever, pounds, and I just was like “Oh this could’ve…could’ve went into like a bigger stepping stone.” You know it makes it look like you just have to do a little bit of work and you’re gonna get a lot of reward for it and this is not the case in real

Life.

They say Movies Are Dumb Sometimes, but sometimes, you

have to look at yourself and say, “Boy Howdy! Man, I am dumb sometimes.”

The twist in this movie was right there right in my face. The whole movie – the movie couldn’t have done more to point to me. “Hey! Look at our twist!” And the twist was coming up and then it happened and I was like “Hhow did I miss that!” I felt like such an idiot! Did you miss the twist in this movie? Did you miss the last Christmas Twist?

Please leave in the comments below and let me know you missed it because I sure did and I don’t wanna feel like the only one dumb sometimes!

And that does it for this episode of Movies Are Dumb Sometimes! If I were to be asked, “Hey! Should I go see Last Christmas?” I say yeah. Yeah. It’s not that bad of a movie and you know it’s you sit there.

It’s not a whole lot of dumb plots or you don’t like felt drops in the movies or nothing is. It’s pretty straightforward. If you’re not stupid enough to not see the twist like me maybe you’ll enjoy it more, but it was fun. I enjoyed myself. I had some laughs.

Definitely if you have a significant other that loves Christmas and even if they’re…Yeah. I don’t know…it’s-it’s…I don’t know. My heart is fluttering right now! I had I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
