Amazon Music is retiring the Music Storage service, which allows customers to upload and store up to 250 songs in a personal cloud library. Our records indicate you have uploaded one or more songs through your Amazon account in the past.
To keep, download, and play your uploaded songs at no extra cost, simply open a web browser, go to your Music Settings and click the “Keep my songs” button to direct us to save your music to the cloud. Otherwise your uploaded songs will be removed from your library on April 30, 2018.
Your Amazon Music digital purchases will continue to remain securely stored for playback and download — no further action is required to retain those. These changes will not impact your ability to stream Prime Music or Amazon Music Unlimited.

If you don’t think you’ve received this email or are too lazy to check your email, here are the steps to “keep, download, and play” your uploaded songs:

- Sign in to Amazon
- In the “Account (your name), Account & Lists” drop down button on the upper right, click on “Your Account”
- Under “Digital Content and Devices”, select Music Settings
- Under “Music Storage”, click the “Keep my songs” button
It is still a little vague on what this actually means. It kind of seems like that if you “Keep my songs”, it will continue to store them for you. It seems like they won’t let you upload anymore, or if you delete a song, it’ll be gone forever. I’ll update this post in early May to see exactly what is different.
What is very curious to me is what will happen to my songs. I’ve been on Amazon since 2004. I have over 900 songs/tracks uploaded. Will they all be there? I’ve downloaded all of them just to be safe. Also, it is worth noting that if you have digital purchases, those will already be protected. I know a good chunk of that 900 was purchased through digital download, so nothing may change.
FYI: If you have Amazon Prime and you order something you don’t need right away, take that slower shipping and get your $1 for digital downloads! Totally worth it!
Here are just SOME gems I purchased through Amazon Digital Downloads. Some are even free to stream on Amazon Prime. Buy it if you live in the 90’s and don’t have a smartphone with good streaming capability or if you want to support your favorite artists!
